Tonight, I went to Kampai, the sushi place that Thai works at, with John, Winnie, Tae, and Tae's sister. It was pretty cool. I left a pretty hefty tip for Thai, but found out later that something's up with the way he gets paid, so he didn't get all the extra money we left for him... that sucked.

I think they only invited me along cuz John cancelled some earlier plans to take me to the Hong Kong film festival at SMU. So they like invited me to go eat sushi with them out of sympathy. haha, oh well, at least I got some good food- not a bad consolation. We went and chilled at Winnie's place afterwards. Man, her place is awesome- so much cool stuff. We watched the latter half of Legend of Drunken Master on her big-screen tv with SUUuurrrrooouuUNNDDD sound! Then they showed me the internet short film (or something) called "Tokyo Breakfast." Haha, it was hilarious.

I watched the premiere episode of Star Trek: Enterprise (that I had taped) also. I still say The Next Generation is the coolest, but I suppose Enterprise wasn't too bad. I can't really put my finger on why I don't like Enterprise, it just doesn't get me going... oh well. =/

man... sooooo tired... I've only gotten a total of 5 hours of sleep since 6:30 Tuesday morning (09/25/01)... let's see, that's like what, about 67 hours? uggghhh... too tired to do the math. There's only been one instance that I remember where I've slept less than this.

I remember watching an episode of "Pete & Pete" on Nickelodeon (back when it was still on), where the younger Pete was trying to break the world record for staying awake the longest. The record was 10 days straight, I think... man, that's BEAST!

I've always fantasized about like evolving/mutating to a point where my body doesn't need sleep. Then I'd have an extra 6 hours or so every day just to like chill and have fun... or actually do my homework at home for a change, haha. I'm gonna genetically engineer my children so that they wouldn't need sleep! heheh, they'd thank me when they're older.

ACK! Apparently, string cheese sticks to paper... I was doing calculus hw just a sec ago, and I had to lay the stick of cheese in my left hand down so that I could operate my calculator. Well, I placed it down on the book, and when I tried to pick it back up again, it like stuck to the paper and left a nasty looking film of cheese on the page. Yuck. I wiped it up, but I think it's gonna leave like a grease stain, haha.

CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPP!!!! I just submitted the online application (part 1) for MIT, then I realized that I had left some stuff blank. ARRRRGGG!!!! NoooOOOooOOOOoooOoooOOO...

Arrrrgggg... the kids at chinese school were making fun of my Chinese! =( They said I have a lisp! I soooo do NOT. Maybe it's cuz i make absolutely no attempt to do any tongue curling (just like 90% of all ABC's), so every hs- comes out sounding like a very sharp s-, which may possibly be confused for th-.... maybe... by a longshot. I dunno, I think they're just crazy. I mean, I don't have a lithp when I thpeak English, do I?
Man, I always get confused when programming my VCR. Like, tonight, I was setting it up to record Cowboy Bebop on Cartoon Network (; for my time zone, that's 11:00- midnight). But like, when you want it to stop at midnight, do u tell it 12:00AM or 12:00PM? cuz like, it defaults to pm, but if you think about it, 12:00PM is noon, right? hmmm, I hope it doesn't record for 13 hours.

It's been awhile since I've blogged; I guess it's just that nothing seemed important enough, or worth writing about at least. But I suppose life's been getting pretty close to normal again after last week's tragedy.

Well, I finally got hired for my science fair thing; (about time!) it only took what, 3 months? =/ Oh well, better than never I suppose. I'm now an official employee of the "Texas A&M University System." They made us (my science fair partner, Kevin H., and I) watch an hour's worth of really stupid training videos made in the 80's. It's gonna be a minimum wage job, and I might not get paid for all the hours I work- but I guess that's really not too bad considering that I'm getting paid to do something that I woulda done for free.

I beat myself up pretty badly today at kung fu. I'm starting (again) to learn chain whip off of Krist, and I don't know what was wrong today, but everything just felt really off. The end of the (steel) whip wrapped around and hit me in the face like 5 times doing the same move before I decided to call it quits. Man, I checked it in the mirror, and it looks like I've got a black eye or something. =( I stopped off at 7-eleven on the way home and bought a slurpee- only partially for the refreshment, but mainly to ice down my face, hahah. Dang, now everyone at school's gonna think I got beaten up, hahaha.

Man, I can't manage to stay awake reading my stupid economics textbook. It puts me to sleep every time, without fail. I tried to read it twice this week, and fell asleep within 2 pages both times. I left a pretty hefty drool mark in it, hahaha. I feel sorry for the kid who has to use it next year. =P Actually, I bet every kid who takes this course thinks that, hahaha.

CoCo BEST (the robot building contest/club) started this week. It takes up a heck of a lot of time. It's every day after school for like 1.5 hours. bleehhhhh, not cool. Uggghhh, oh well, it's only for 6 weeks, I think I'll survive. It's good "engineering experience," supposedly. Oh yea, we were building part of the track today, and we had to like measure out some wooden beams, and we kept yelling, "Line it up, line it up!" Haha, we were cracking up cuz it reminded us of "Light it up, light it up!" a la Y2Khai, hahahaha... oh well, we were thoroughly amused. Speaking of Y2Khai, I took down the link to his page cuz it turned like, semi-pornographic. I think he's trying too hard to further his pimp image.

I think I got a computer virus or something, it says I can't run Microsoft Word because it's corrupted or something. hmmm.... =(

They had a ceremony at school today in remembrance of the victims. We stood in the courtyard to observe a moment of silence then the band/choir played some patriotic songs. It gave me goosebumps, even in the seering heat.

Wednesday, September 12, 2001

I'm taking apart some of my kung fu medals and tying the red/white/blue ribbon onto my backpack.
I dressed in all black today to mourn the victims and express sorrow for the destruction of these American landmarks. Man, my dang acne medication makes me ineligible to donate blood, otherwise I'd be out there in a second!
holding vigil...

I've got about a hundred things I could blog about right now, but they all seem so petty and insignificant in light of what happened.
It was a really tragic day today. Planes crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. I was in zero-hour English, when another teacher walked in and told us to turn on the tv. I couldn't make out what I was looking at at first. When I realized, I was filled with fear and confusion. I couldn't believe that such American landmarks could have this happen to them, and 3 times too! I was in a state of shock for the entire school day. I couldn't think straight, I wasn't hungry at lunch, and I kept drifting off the lines when I was writing. I felt like there were a million thoughts running through my mind at the time, but I couldn't grasp a single one.

We watched tv in every class before lunch, and it was the most painful for me when I saw the second building of the trade center falling apart, live. I came really close to crying at that moment, and I got all teary eyed at different times throughout the day. You just never think that this kind of thing can happen. It's hard to accept that this building which was here just yesterday no longer exists.

When I saw the footage of the second plane hitting the World Trade Center, I felt disgusted at the sight of the explosion. It was nothing like in the games or in the movies. I didn't think it was cool or exciting; I was horrified. It finally hit me how real these things are, how real people die when this happens. It made me really upset when some of my friends were laughing and cracking jokes about the situation; that was the single most heartless and cold thing I think I've ever seen them do. I don't think I'll ever fantasize about bombs and explosions again after this, I realize today more than ever how in the bravado of smoke and flames, real people are getting hurt and killed.

Uggghhhh... had to do my essay for national merit tonight. It's supposedly due tomorrow... I just took one of my good essays from before and completely bastardized it to fit the prompt. Man, why do essay prompts always have to be so bland. It's like they're practically setting themselves up to get a million identical essays. Oh well, I broke from the mold... but now maybe they'll penalize me for not addressing the prompt or some crap like that. ugghhh... i don't care any more, i'm too sleepy to think straight right now.
My school held "College Night" tonight. It was kind of a pointless trip for me this year, actually. I mean, I already know the schools I want to apply to (, or rather, the schools my parents want me to apply to). It was more like for the people who were still completely browsing. It's funny- when I went my junior year, I thought it was targeted at seniors, but when I went this year (my senior year) I realized that the information is so much more pertinent to juniors. Oh well... no biggie, I suppose.

Man, how come moisturizing lotions don't come in more manly scents? There's a gazillion of 'em that are flowery or powder scented, but how come none of 'em are targeted at men? Did the industry just assume that men never get dry skin?? Hmm, scaly dry skin or smelling like a pansy? Tough call...

The LASER carwash was this morning. I went and washed from 8 to 12 even though I really only had to wash for 2 hours. I figured since I missed it last year, I was making up for it this year. Business was pretty bad cuz it looked like it was gonna rain, and now my back is killing me and I think I'm sunburned. There was a picnic afterwards. It was alright, but we had to drive all the way over to the "Ghetto East" for it. We played some silly games afterwards... weird.

I remember the carwashes used to be more fun. I guess most of my friends stopped doing science fair (note: LASER is a club for science fair participants). And most who still are had to go to a debate tournament. I guess their season just started cuz the debaters were all dressed up at school on Friday. I talked to Allen about it, and he proposed the idea of having "Pimp Fridays" - having everyone get all dressed up on Fridays, even if we're not in debate. I dunno, sounds kinda hokey if u ask me.

I haven't felt like blogging in awhile, so here's all my thoughts for the past couple of days:

Where does it all go when you 'suck in your gut'?

My mind plays tricks on me! =( I was doing my hw really late last night, and at some point, I just started hallucinating/dreaming that I was doing it. Then I woke up at like 6:00 and found that there was next to nothing on the paper. It was just like DANG! Whhhyyyyy!?!?!? ...and like half the stuff I actually did write on the paper was completely illegible; I couldn't make it out at all. Well, that sucked thoroughly.

On Thursday (9/6/01), my right shoulder was spasming like crazy. The muscle would start twitching non-stop for like 5 seconds at a time. It was really weird, so I kept my jacket on all day to hide it, despite the fact that it was frickin' hot!!

I'm starting to lose a lot of muscular flexibility. The side-effects of my acne medication are starting to seriously kick in. It hurts like crazy to do the splits now, and I can't do center splits any more. It's not the tendon hurting, it's like the grinding of the bones together... or cartilage, or whatever it is in joints.

Tuesday, September 04, 2001

Man, I've spent the entire night diligently reading Cry, the Beloved Country, only to be informed just now that the quiz isn't until Thursday (in 2 days). blehh... I guess I'll finish reading tomorrow then.

Oh wait, shoot, I've been loading up with coffee, thinking I wouldn't sleep until around 2:00 tonight. ARRRGGG! I'm not gonna be able to get to sleep, even if I wanted! =( DARN IT! DARN IT ALL!!!!
You know how when you get water into your ear, you do that little sideways head shake to try and get it out? And like, when it doesn't come out, you just start shaking harder and harder? Well, I got up to some serious headbanging just a sec ago before I decided that there really wasn't any water there in the first place. =/ Blehhh, now I'm dizzy...
I just got back from watching Kiss of the Dragon (for 50 cents)... sooooo cool!!! Like Jet Li said himself, the fighting is considerably less flashy, but more practical. In other words, this isn't the kinda movie that I'll be sitting down with in the VCR, rewinding and playing it in slow-mo to learn the moves, haha. Those white guys actually pulled cooler moves than Jet Li, I think. That's only the second movie I've seen where that was the case (; the other was Jackie Chan's Gorgeous). Oh yea, and this is like the only movie of his that comes to mind where he hasn't used some variation of the rope dart, haha (i.e. the fire hose, lamp & cord, rope, etc.). Ummm, yea, well it was a pretty good movie nonetheless- pretty bloody for a kung fu movie though. Went for pearls afterwards- same ol', same ol'...

Monday, September 03, 2001

I went to Elizabeth's birthday party today. It was alright I guess. It was at the park, and it started out really really hot... but then it rained, haha. It was the first time I've been on a playground in a really long time. I amused myself trying to pull "Jackie Chan"s, hahaha. Ummm, yea, well, I ate a ton- as usual. Then we played some mah jong, and that was about it. Not many people throw b-day parties any more. I think everyone came to the mutual agreement not to hold parties because they cost too much to go to now that our parents don't foot the bill for the presents, haha.
I put on a new pair of underwear awhile ago, same size as always, but this time, it was like unusually tight. dang, I guess that means my butt is bigger than I thought! hahah... been putting on a little bit of weight, haha. I prefer my tighty-whiteys a little on the loose side. =P

Sunday, September 02, 2001

My computer's been kinda screwy lately. I think there's something wrong with the RAM chip, but anyways, like there'll be like extreme system slowdown every 30 minutes or so. And like, normally, it isn't all that noticeable, but when I'm listening to MP3's, it'll start skipping/repeating. It's pretty funny, cuz then every song sounds like rap, haha... rather amusing.

Saturday, September 01, 2001

Since it's Labor Day weekend and all, my parents wanted me to finish up my blue counselor packet. (It's like the college apps thing, but you give it to the counselor so she can write a better recommendation letter... supposedly) Well, anyways, my parents were getting all on my case about me finishing the packet, so I took a look at it tonight, for the first time in ages. I started doing it, and I noticed that there's a section that the parents have to write. I showed it to my parents, and they hushed up about me finishing it pretty quickly, hahahah.
Man, I'm having butt spasms. It's crazy; it'll just randomly start twitching for like 5 seconds at a time. This happens like every few minutes. Weird, maybe I need to drink more water, or take more sodium/potassium.
