My new (boss's boss's) boss gave an informal presentation today to the young whippersnappers of the company about how he got where he is and his experiences and whatnot. One of the most clever witticisms he shared was:
In the first 5 years of your life, you learn how to walk and how to talk. For the next 10 years, you're told to sit down and shut up... Then, the next 8 years or so are spent learning to talk the walk (selling yourself and your potential). Then you start working, and you gotta learn to walk the talk (put your money where your mouth is)....I think I still need to get better at both the talking AND the walking. =/
