PLANO WEST HOMECOMING 2001 - full coverage
Friday. Right after school, the girls took us to Tom Thumb, and we did like this weird 2 minute shopping-spree type thing - kinda weird and pointless at the same time. Then we went to Cherry's (my date's) house; all except Rex, since he had to go to the game cuz he's in band. The guys got to design (draw on) t-shirts that the girls would have to wear all night. Some of 'em wrote some really embarrassing stuff, but it was funny. I didn't feel like being mean, so I drew like ninja turtles, pirates, and misc. doodles. We went to a restaurant called Timpano - average. Then they took us to watch 13 Ghosts at Stonebriar, but my date and I walked out like 20 minutes in cuz it was too freaky (for me, at least), haha. Man, I'm such a scaredy-cat when it comes to supernatural stuff. Ghosts/ spiritual stuff is like KRYPTONITE to me! Anyways, so we snuck into K-Pax and watched like the last 20 minutes of it. Then I suggested that we go to Barnes & Noble and have gelato (Italian ice cream). We went to another Starbuck's afterwards, and that was about the end of the evening.
When I got home, I tried to get to sleep ASAP, cuz I'd hafta wake up at 5:00 the next morning to go to the CoCo BEST (robotics) competition. I was getting into bed at about 12:00 when I realized that I had to prepare for Saturday night's after-dance activities. I drove around to 2 supermarkets to find what I wanted. I made flan and an Oreo cream pie; it all took longer than I expected. I finally got to bed around 2:00.
Saturday. The next morning, I woke up late and was flooring it over to Tim's place to meet the CoCo BEST team. I got halfway there when I realized I'd left the map to the place back at my house; I got to Tim's place late. I then had Mike drive my car to the competitions site so I could sleep in the passenger's seat. But then, he goes and get in a CAR ACCIDENT, driving my car! He collided with an 18-wheeler and got knocked off the road! I came out of my sleep as it was happening... sooo freaky! When the cops came, Mike couldn't explain what happened... not clearly at least. Man, it's ALWAYS pissed me off how he can't articulate his ideas clearly... the cop musta thought he was making up his story or something. geez...
The competition was exciting... , but we got slaughtered, haha. We weren't the worst, but some of teams were just really good. We had to do an oral presentation about our robot development to a panel of judges, too. It was basically just Tim and Amit talking the whole time. I wanted to say stuff, but I ended up just standing there listening to them talk; there was nothing I could say that they couldn't say better... that must be what Kevin feels like when we do science fair, hahahahaha. I left about halfway through the competition to prep for homecoming.
I baked some brownies, showered, changed, and left for the meeting place. Rex was like an hour late, so we didn't eat til like 8:00. We ate at a place downtown (Dallas) called Dakota's. It was the big secret that Johnny had been keeping all week. It was really nice... there was like this man-made waterfall that was really pretty. I tried pheasant for the first time in my life- tastes like chicken, hahah. After dinner, I realized that I'd left the dance tickets at home (AW CRAP!).
We didn't get to the dance til like 10:30. (***CENSORED*** so as not to hurt people's feelings; you'll have to talk to me personally for the full scoop.) Let's just say the actual dance part of the evening was less than pleasing...
After that, the guys had originally planned to have a moonlight picnic, but it didn't work cuz it was cold and windy as heck. So instead, we set the whole thing up over at Cherry's place while the girls were gone. We had candles and rose petals, and we served them desserts that we'd made ourselves. It was a really romantic idea, but I don't think it turned out all that well. Then we popped in the video of Friday; I got tired and left like 30 minutes in. I got home at 3:00... or 2:00, actually, because of daylight savings. I slept for 11 hours straight... it was soooo refreshing. I didn't have a chance to do my Chinese school hw cuz I woke up so late, though.
